3 B's Native Plant Garden - Birds, Butterflies, and Bees
Joanne Schwab is looking for help in the 3B's Native Plant Garden located in Corrado Park, 8500 Flamingo Blvd, Westland! 3B's Native Plant Garden: Birds, Butterflies and Bees is a community native plant garden. The 2 acre garden's purpose is to show the community how native plants give a boost of biodiversity, demonstrate to visitors smart gardening techniques, and provide a Children's Sensory Garden. Volunteer days are Wednesdays and Saturdays 10-1pm, April to October, weather permitting. No experience needed, just come and enjoy the beautiful birds, butterflies and bees!

Keep Growing Detroit has weekly volunteer hours at their 3100 Orleans St. location. From their newsletter “These days we are mostly harvesting at our community volunteer hours on Tuesdays & Thursdays. This will continue until the end of October and we have shifted to 4-6p to accommodate the shorter days. This opportunity is ideal for small groups and individuals. Youth are welcome! Kids 12 & under need to be accompanied by an adult volunteer. No RSVP required.” More dates/times on their website. The Greening of Detroit has volunteer opportunities on Saturdays through this fall. If you are looking to get some last minute hours in, check them out. Note that you can’t get volunteer or education hours for yoga or rock painting—but tree planting is a-ok.
